Neon vs. ledon – which solution to choose for personalizing the office?

Personalized light lettering

A comfortable office space is a place, supporting the implementation of daily tasks and long-term goals of the company. The appearance of the office has a special effect on employees and their well-being. This is why a personalized work space is so important.

There are many elements that make an office space more welcoming to both employees and other visitors to the company’s headquarters. One of them is personalized light lettering.

Advantages of having a light sign in the office

They are an additional source of light in the room, and at the same time warm up the space in question.

They make the space more modern and unique, and increase the prestige of the office.

They have a positive impact on the emotions of the users of the space, due to the colors used and the possible message they carry.

Placing a brand logo in the form of a luminous inscription makes it stay in the memory of the person who visits the office for a longer time.

When to apply neon?

The oldest form of light lettering is neon signs. A special feature of neon signs is that they emit light over their entire surface. As a result, they are perfect for larger spaces. Neon signs create a unique atmosphere of the place where they will be used and thus have many supporters. However, it should be borne in mind that the colors used in neon signs are limited.

Power supply: It is important to remember that classic neon lights need a lot of current. There are two functional solutions for connecting them to power – mounting with a power supply or mounting with a transformer. The power supply requires you to mount it close to the glowing sign or graphic, while the transformer allows you to move it away from the object, even up to several meters.

Installation: The neon can be custom-made to fit an already finished space. If we are installing it in an already finished interior, we prefer mounting it on a substrate, which will avoid renovation and the introduction of new electrical connections under the plaster. On the other hand, when the installation is still taking place during the renovation, a better solution will be to mount directly on the wall – in this case we can hide the wires under the plaster.

When to use ledon in the office?

Ledons are another form of luminous lettering. They are made of plastic rather than glass. As a result, they are more resistant to mechanical damage and lighter than neon signs, also making it possible to make more precise shapes. They also differ from neon signs in that they emit light only from the front, but the colors we can use in them are unlimited. We are limited only by our imagination 😉

Power supply: Ledons are considered a more modern solution than neon lights because they use energy-efficient LED technology. Like neon lights, they require connection to a power supply. And here, too, there are two solutions – mounting with a power supply or mounting with a transformer.

Mounting: their installation is no different from that of neon signs. We mount them either directly on the wall or on a substrate – depending on what stage the finishing of the office space is at.

Debunking the Myths

MIT: Ledon is cheaper than neon.

It all depends on the form – sometimes ledons are more expensive, and sometimes neon, there is no rule here.

MIT: Neon only on the outside.

Both ledon and neon can be used indoors, and both are very commonly used in office spaces. On the other hand, only neon can be used outdoors – ledon is not resistant to frost and rain.

MIT: Ledon glows only in white.

The outline of the ledon is made of PVC plastic, which is always white, but it can be painted in any color, which increases the cost, but a colored ledon is as possible.

MIT: The gas in neon is harmful.

The gas with which the neon is filled is not harmful to health.

MIT: Neon is more durable.

Both neon and ledon are durable solutions. However, it should be remembered that neon is made of glass, which is easier to break than the plastic from which ledon is made. To avoid damage, neon is mounted above the shoulder, so it is more difficult to snag it.
