Not just an orange logo – space branding of Orange office

For the Katowice headquarters of Orange Space, we designed space branding combining a systemic and functional approach with artistic wall arrangements. In the interiors of the project by Jander Kabza Architects studio, we managed to go wild with geometric and collage motifs. On the three floors of the office and in the locker rooms, they created with high-quality wall graphics a world ideal for work – inspired by the history and heritage of the Silesian capital.

Multicolored collage graphics with fragments of old photos depicting icons of Katowice’s architecture are strong accents in the office interiors of the Orange brand. They were successfully realized thanks to the openness of the client, who was not afraid of avant-garde graphic solutions combining monochromatic representations of Katowice’s architectural icons with multicolored planes. With this realization, however, we prove that the walls in the office, which we endow with a unique character, can really change the way the office space is perceived and how it affects employees. All this could not have happened without the creativity of the team and the dialogue with the client.

Office branding, or the power of personalization

In space and office branding, what is important above all is the individual approach to each office and the company that occupies it. In our realizations we move between minimalist, economical realizations and crazy, artistic designs. Such is the one realized for Orange in Katowice. The space branding project on three floors of the office building designed by Grupa 5 Architects managed to reflect the dynamic character of the brand and creatively refer to the history and present of the capital of Upper Silesia.

In the Katowice office of Orange, we created a bridge between the city’s present and past through collage wall graphics.

Colorful posters in the office passageways add variety to the space and blend stylistically with the other graphics.

Wall graphics with monuments of Katowice

Let’s start with the second floor. Here employees can enjoy a modern version of the city with its landmarks and icons. In the kitchen and dining room, pastel colors of geometric motifs juxtaposed with architectural gems of Katowice and the surrounding area: the Millennium Estate (designed by four architects: Henryk Buszka, Aleksander Franta, Marian Dziewoński and Tadeusz Szewczyk), the 14th-century Castle in Bedzin or a fragment of a mine shaft that is now part of the Silesian Museum. The juxtaposition of colorful graphics with the minimalist design of the common area, which is dominated by grays and whites, gave a balanced effect. In addition, the lobby was decorated with posters of Katowice architecture – stylistically harmonizing with the wallpaper. One of the walls, meanwhile, featured a relaxing view – of Lake Paprocany. This type of visual solution is a good way to identify the office not only with the brand, but also with the place where it is located. Locality above all!

Our Katowice office is located on three floors of an office building - so the space branding arrangement was not only about creating attractive graphics, but also about visually connecting the three parts of the office. Thanks to Space Wizard, we now have an office that exudes good energy, which in turn makes it better to work in.

Red brick and mines - an original idea for office branding in an office building

On the third floor of the office building, Space Wizard pays homage to working-class Katowice – with its industrial red-brick architecture and the mines that shaped the region. Kleofas and Halemba are the two coal mines that became the heroes of the graphics on the third floor. Presenting their image in an office building is perhaps a controversial idea, but the idea was that such graphics would not only connect the modern way of working with the former thriving coal businesses, but also become a bridge between what is modern and what built the city’s identity. Of course, there was also no way to miss the brick Nikiszowiec! We supplemented the archival black-and-white photographs with illustrations by Joanna Malecka.

Introducing an image of a coal mine into the office of a modern company is an extravagance at a time when we are moving away from coal-powered energy, but in this case it has its justification. In the wall graphics for Orange, we evoke the spirit of history and refer to Katowice’s traditions.

The combination of archival photographs with an artistic rose motif by Joanna Malecka harmonizes with the color scheme of the furniture.

At Space Wizard, we often draw from office locations. In Katowice, brick architecture was not to be missed.

If you decide to have collage-style wall graphics for your office, consult an architect, interior designer or the Space Wizard team about choosing the right graphic elements and color scheme. Collage is a great solution for large spaces, but it won’t always work in smaller offices. It is also worth remembering to match the color palette with the color scheme of the finishes, as well as the furniture.

Modernistic Katowice on the office wall

The fourth floor of the office is filled with an atmosphere of modernism – the designed graphics feature places known not only to the residents of the city and its surroundings: Katowice’s Spodek or the Czantoria railroad. However, all these architectural motifs are tied together by a common collage style.

Colorful geometries in office locker rooms

The color scheme of the locker rooms was unified on each floor – geometric wall graphics made the monotonous space more dynamic and made the rooms stand out from the rest of the interior. Each floor is a different color, so it’s easier to find your way around.

The energetic yellow color is perhaps too strong for a work space, but perfect for a wall graphic for a company locker room!

Wall graphics in the office can build perspective in an interesting way and give the space the desired character.

Pastel colors in the Orange locker room – the colors are different on each floor, so it’s hard to get lost! Wall graphics can therefore act as a wayfinding system.

Repeating geometric motifs in the same color as the wall next to it. It’s a simple solution that is modern and works well in common spaces.

The implementation of space branding for Orange’s Katowice office encapsulates the modern spirit of the brand, and captures the energy of the city – along with its multiple facets.
