What to follow when choosing colors for the interior of the office?

The right color scheme for an office can benefit the efficiency of employees and vice versa, the wrong color combination for a room can cause fatigue, irritability and drowsiness. There is no single right answer as to what color scheme will fit perfectly in an office. However, there are some tried-and-true rules to take the right direction in its selection.

What colors are best for the office?

Among the most popular opinions, the interiors of offices should be dominated by light, warm colors with low saturation. While, whites and beiges with their neutrality will work well in any interior regardless of style, with shades of yellow we recommend to be careful. Soft and pastel shades of yellow in the finish give the impression of warmth and cleanliness and make the workstation more cozy. In contrast, a juicy, saturated one can be distracting and tiring to the eyes.

Office colors consistent with brand branding

The starting point in choosing a color scheme for our projects is often the brand’s visual identity and its history and values. We use colors from branding to achieve an effect of consistency and professionalism. Such interiors foster creativity, innovation, build a positive image and stand out from the competition. However, it is important to consider the purpose of the rooms and the tasks that will be performed in them. Especially if the brand’s branding includes intense, flashy colors, it is worth considering a different color palette for rooms that require more concentration. Because although the way we perceive colors and like them is often an individual matter, when it comes to general principles and the effect of colors on our psyche, we all react similarly.

The color scheme of the office matched to the function of the rooms.

It is certain that what colors we surround ourselves with have a great impact on our well-being. Each color has its own different properties that are worth taking advantage of.

Blue is widely regarded as a color that promotes concentration and calmness. It is a good choice for offices where precision and mental work is required. Shades of this color are ideal for focus rooms. A blue interior also helps inspire confidence and is associated with professionalism, so it will also work well in waiting rooms and lobbies.

Green Like blue, it has a calming effect on us. It is associated with nature and relaxation . Bright green gives the impression of cleanliness, spaciousness and allows to rest eyes tired of work in front of the computer.

Orange It is associated with vitality and freshness, adds energy and motivates action. It will work especially well in open plan offices and creative task rooms, where employees meet in teams and exchange ideas. It is definitely worth introducing this color if there is a significant preponderance of young people in the office. For older people, it can be too overwhelming.

When choosing colors, it is worth using moderation. A room entirely decorated in one color will certainly make quite an impression, but it is not necessarily suitable for many hours of work. It is also important to adapt the colors to the nature of the company, the type of work performed and the preferences and age of the employees – they are the ones who spend most of their time there.

Efficient handling of colors allows you to positively affect the mood and productivity, but also the visual perception of the office. Some colors will allow you to optically enlarge a small room, while others will make a spacious interior take on an intimate character. Knowing the psychology of colors and a few visual tricks you can achieve amazing benefits.
